About Intake, Transfer and Release (ITR)

Anyone being transferred between county facilities, or released from a Durango complex jail, passes through ITR. The building also contains courtrooms used by the county.

Posting Bail for Someone at Intake, Transfer and Release

Bonds are not posted at ITR. They are posted at the 4th Avenue Jail downtown. ITR is where many people are physically released after a bond posts, so this is often the address we give families for pickup when the inmate is housed at Lower Buckeye, Estrella, Towers or Watkins.

Tips for Families

  • ITR is on 28th Drive south of Durango Street in west Phoenix.
  • Released inmates leave with their property and any paperwork about court dates. Keep that paperwork.
  • If you are waiting for a release late at night, stay in your vehicle and keep your phone on. We will update you as soon as the jail confirms.

Intake, Transfer and Release Questions

How do I bail someone out of Intake, Transfer and Release?

Call us with the person's name and date of birth. We confirm custody and the bail amount, you sign electronically and pay the premium, and our agent posts the bond. You do not need to come to Phoenix.

How long does release from Intake, Transfer and Release take?

Release is controlled by the facility. The Sheriff's Office says up to 24 hours after a bond posts; 4th Avenue releases are often two to eight hours, and Durango complex releases are usually faster than that.

Can I visit someone at Intake, Transfer and Release?

Visitation rules are set by the facility and change often. Check the official website or call the facility before going. Getting the person released on bond is usually faster than arranging a visit.

Where do you post bail in Phoenix?

Bonds for anyone in Maricopa County custody are posted in person at the 4th Avenue Jail Bond and Fine Room, 201 S 4th Avenue, Phoenix, at the northwest corner of the building. The county does not accept bonds electronically. Our agent handles the posting so you do not have to.

How long after posting bail is someone released from Maricopa County jail?

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office states that release processing can take up to 24 hours after a bond is posted. In practice, release from the 4th Avenue Jail often takes two to eight hours, and releases from the Durango complex jails (Lower Buckeye, Estrella, Towers, Watkins) can take longer because the release order must reach that facility. Weekend nights and holidays are slowest.
