Calculator Questions

Is the 10% rate the same at every Arizona bail bond company?

Each surety insurer files its rates with the state and licensed agents must charge the filed rate. Ten percent is the standard. Be cautious of anyone advertising a rate far below that; ask to see the filed rate and the full agreement.

Are there other fees besides the premium?

There can be legitimate costs such as recording fees for real estate collateral or posting fees on out-of-state transfer bonds. We disclose every fee in writing before you sign. There are no night, weekend or holiday surcharges.

Why is the premium higher than 10% on a small bond?

Surety rate schedules set a minimum premium on low bail amounts because the cost of writing and posting a bond does not shrink with the bond. On a very small bond, paying the cash bail yourself may be cheaper, and we will tell you if that is the case.

How much does a bail bond cost in Phoenix?

Arizona bail bond premiums are set by the surety company's rates filed with the Arizona Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions, typically 10% of the bail amount. A $5,000 bail costs about $500; a $25,000 bail costs about $2,500. Surety schedules set a minimum premium on very small bonds. Licensed agents cannot charge interest on the premium, and we disclose every fee before you sign.

Do you get bail bond money back?

The premium paid to a bail bond agent is not refunded. It is the fee for the agent posting the full bail amount on the defendant's behalf. Collateral pledged for a bond is returned when the case ends and the court exonerates the bond. If you instead pay the full bail in cash directly to the court, that cash is refunded when the case concludes, provided the defendant appeared at every court date.
