Arizona Bail Guide
Arrested While Visiting Phoenix: A Guide for Out-of-State Families
What to do when a family member is arrested while visiting Phoenix or Scottsdale: finding them, bail, bonding from another state, travel home and court obligations.
Finding the Person
Visitors arrested in Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe or Glendale are booked at a city facility or the 4th Avenue Jail. Use the Maricopa County inmate search or call us; we also check city facilities.
Bail and the Bond
Bail is set at the initial appearance within 24 hours. Out-of-state residents are sometimes seen as flight risks, so bonds can be higher than for locals. We complete the entire bond remotely: e-signature, card payment, and posting at the jail. You do not need to fly to Arizona for the bond.
Going Home
Most release orders allow an out-of-state defendant to return home, but confirm with the attorney and read the conditions. The person must return for court dates or appear through counsel where the court permits. Missing a date creates a warrant that follows them home.
Who to Call
A Phoenix criminal defense attorney, early. And us, for the bond. Spring training, major events and Scottsdale nightlife bring us many of these calls, and the process is routine for us even when it is terrifying for you. See transfer bonds.
How One Stop Bail Bonds helps. Our licensed agents deal with out-of-state visitor arrests questions every week. Call at any hour and we will confirm the custody location and bail amount from the jail and court records, explain the release conditions in plain language, quote the premium to the dollar, and, if a bond is the right move, take your e-signature and post at the jail while you stay home. If a bond is not the right move, or not possible yet, we will tell you that too. Read how bail bonds work or use the calculator to estimate the cost.

Questions
Can I cosign a bond from another state?
Yes. We verify your identity and information remotely and take your e-signature. Out-of-state cosigners are common.
Will my family member have to come back to Arizona for court?
Generally yes for felonies and often for misdemeanors, though some appearances can be waived or handled by counsel. The attorney will advise.
What if the person was arrested on a warrant from our home state?
That is a fugitive matter with its own process, and bail may be limited pending extradition. Call an attorney and call us; we explain what is possible.
